Class 7 AI in Industries: cheat sheet
CBSE Computational Thinking and AI. AI helps healthcare, education, transport and communication by making work faster, more accurate and more productive, with people still checking it.
Key ideas
- Healthcare: AI helps doctors spot problems in scans and reminds patients about medicines.
- Education: AI suggests practice at the right level and gives quick hints.
- Transport: AI predicts traffic, plans timetables and warns when parts need repair.
- Communication: AI translates, filters junk messages and turns speech into text.
- AI saves time on repetitive work and catches faults people might miss.
- Responsible use means testing AI on new data, keeping data private and letting people check its decisions.
Remember
| Time taken | amount of work ÷ rate per hour |
| Time saved | time by hand − time by machine |
| Example | 360 letters: 360 ÷ 20 = 18 h by hand, 360 ÷ 60 = 6 h by machine → 12 h saved |
| Percentage increase | increase ÷ old value × 100 |
| Fewer missed mistakes | 8 → 3 in every 200 forms: (8 − 3) × 1,000 ÷ 200 = 25 fewer in 1,000 forms |
| Accuracy | correct ÷ number tested × 100% |
Watch out
- Dividing the increase by the NEW value instead of the old one.
- Giving the time taken by the machine instead of the time saved.
- Letting AI make important decisions with no person checking.
Worked example
(a) A person can sort 20 letters an hour; an AI-assisted machine can sort 60 an hour. How many hours are saved on 360 letters by using the machine? (b) Before it had an AI camera, a machine read 450 forms an hour. With the camera, it reads 900 an hour. By what percentage did the output go up?
Working: (a) 360 ÷ 20 = 18 hours; 360 ÷ 60 = 6 hours; (b) increase 450; 450 ÷ 450 × 100
Answer: (a) 12 hours; (b) 100%
