Class 8 Ethics and Responsible AI: cheat sheet
CBSE Computational Thinking and AI. Responsible AI respects privacy, avoids bias and misinformation, and stays transparent and accountable to people.
Key ideas
- Ethics are the values that guide how technology is made and used.
- Privacy means keeping your personal information safe and under your control; give apps only the permissions they need.
- Never share an OTP, a password or a PIN with anyone who asks for it.
- Misinformation spreads very fast when each person forwards it; check the source before sharing.
- Transparency means being open about how a system decides; accountability means people stay responsible for its decisions.
- Fairness means treating everyone equally; consent means knowingly agreeing to share your data.
Remember
| Permissions an app needs | calculator: none; map: location; camera app: camera; voice recorder: microphone |
| Forwarded to k new people each hour | hour h: kʰ new people |
| Total by the end of hour h | k + k² + … + kʰ (k = 3, h = 3: 3 + 9 + 27 = 39) |
| Checks before sharing | source; same news on trusted sites; read beyond the headline |
Watch out
- Tapping Allow on every permission without asking why the app needs it.
- Sharing a message because many people already have.
- Counting only the last hour instead of adding every hour of forwarding.
Worked example
Four apps ask for these permissions: A voice-search app asks for: camera, microphone A stopwatch asks for: camera An app for saving phone numbers asks for: contacts, location, microphone A notes app asks for: microphone (a) How many permissions are requested in all? (b) How many are not needed? (c) Why should you think before tapping Allow?
Working: a voice-search app needs microphone; a stopwatch needs none; an app for saving phone numbers needs contacts; a notes app needs none
Answer: (a) 7; (b) 5; (c) e.g. an app that collects data it does not need could misuse or share it, so allow only what it needs
